‘We had an ambition to reduce the overall cost of our transport whilst maintaining service and quality. EDGE public solutions have provided us with the expertise, additional capacity and underwritten the delivery of the savings necessary to realise that ambition.’
Neath Port Talbot Council
'EDGE have delivered substantial savings for the Council and that was very welcome, importantly they have also developed our internal teams and ensured that quality and training has improved for our transport suppliers. Particularly pleasing for me is that we have been able to reinvest some of the savings to deliver travel training to a number of our children with special needs which will have a huge impact on their daily lives. The whole EDGE package has worked really well for us.’

'EDGE Public solutions worked with us for 3 months to undertake an opportunities review on the potential for Bridgend County Borough Council and South Wales Police to collaborate on Fleet services. The review was challenging due to the diversity of the organisations and timescales for delivery were tight. I was impressed by the knowledge and experience of the consultants and their commitment and flexibility in delivering a powerful business case which was approved by both organisations. Additional - I found the consultants friendly and easy to work.

In February 2012 Doncaster MBC began an initiative to improve transport operations and reduce the overall cost of transport services.
EDGE public solutions was selected by competitive tender
The EDGE report was completed in April 2012 and identified a range of options for improvement that would deliver savings in the order of £3.0M over three years and reduce the annual revenue cost of the services by over £1.0M per annum. Importantly for the Council, the options were not based on service reduction, but were designed to maintain or enhance services by introducing efficiencies in the way those services are procured and delivered.
The three year change program commenced in November 2012 and is now moving forward on a number of fronts including; passenger transport re-tendering, fleet reduction, control of staff travel, introduction of a pool car scheme and a transport management restructure. An effective project governance process is also in place.
Substantial savings have been achieved to date, significantly ahead of target for this stage of the project.
The improvement options identified in the EDGE report were practical and realistic, and are now being implemented effectively. The on-site team provided by EDGE is competent and knowledgeable and EDGE has resourced the project at a level that has given the project momentum and delivered tangible improvements.

At Leicester City Council we had set ourselves challenging efficiency targets both in terms of the size of our fleet and the significant costs involved in running it. We appointed EDGE public solutions to implement the programme of changes and to deliver the required budget reductions. From the outset through overhauling our project governance and thereafter throughout the process of delivering difficult changes I have been impressed by the professionalism and expertise EDGE have provided, they have worked alongside our Officers to ensure that this programme has been delivered and that our ambitions have been achieved.’

The initial EDGE Public Solutions report identified a range of options for improvement that would deliver savings in the order of £3.0M over three years and reduce the annual revenue cost of the services by over £1.0M per annum. Importantly for the Council, the options were not based on service reduction, but were designed to maintain or enhance services by introducing efficiencies in the way those services are procured and delivered.
The following three year change program quickly moved us forward on a number of fronts including; passenger transport re-tendering, fleet reduction, control of staff travel, introduction of a pool car scheme and a transport management restructure. Very substantial savings were achieved, over 30% ahead of the agreed stretch targets set at the project start.
The whole partnership had a feel good factor, with excellent governance and milestones hit and exceeded. The on-site team provided by EDGE was extremely competent and knowledgeable as well as being flexible in their approach. The project was resourced at a level that allowed the early delivery and over achievement of the original targets, and didn’t stop there, with the additional delivery of further initiatives and improvements in the closing months.
